English Premier League champions
Manchester United have reported record revenue of STG98.5 million ($A170 million) for the first three months of their financial year.
The 29 per cent rise in revenue was
fuelled by a 63 per cent jump in
sponsorship income and increased
earnings from TV deals.
United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said he was "excited" by BT Sport's recently-signed deal for Champions League television rights.
Woodward said BT Sport's success in outbidding Sky and ITV to land the 2015-2018 rights for Europe's top club competition would see clubs' incomes increase still further.
The Premier League deal has seen
United's broadcasting income rise by 40.9 per cent, but the real driver has been the club's growth in commercial income of 62.6 per cent.
Twelve new sponsorship deals have been signed, including a global contract with Russian airline Aeroflot. United, who are controlled by the US- based Glazer family, have made a faltering start to the 2013-2014 season under new manager David Moyes after
Alex Ferguson stepped up to a boardroom role.
