Manchester United midfielder Michael
Carrick has admitted he is unlikely to
feature in the England side in their
upcoming friendlies.
Carrick featured in David Moyes' side
that beat Arsenal 1-0 at Old Trafford
on Sunday but had missed the three
previous games due to an Achilles injury
and was seen limping after the match.
It now appears unlikely that he will
feature in Roy Hodgson's plans for the
two games England will play - between
Chile and Germany - before the World
Cup in Brazil next year.
"I have been carrying the injury for a few
weeks now," he said.
"I was a bit patched up to play today.
"I got through it but it doesn't look too
good."
Speaking about the game with Arsenal, he
told Sky Sports: "It was a big game, the
amount of points we were behind, it was
the old school six pointer and we were
well aware of that before the game.
"We showed how much we wanted it and
we got the lead and then tried to sit back
and counter attack, we knew they were
going to have a lot of the ball and we
knew we would have to be patient and
defend well.
"It is not the first time we have been
written off, and we pride ourselves on our
form over the season and we set high
standards and today was something close
to it.
"We have stayed patient and we haven't
been getting down on ourselves, we know
how much of the season is left - it is a
good day, but it is not going to make the
season."
