RIBERY MUST REMAIN FAITHFUL TO HIS ATTACKING STYLE OF PLAY,SAYS WENGER

Arsenal manager Arsene wenger says Bayern Munich winger Franck ribery must remain faithful to his
adventurous attacking play to have
maximum impact for France at next
summer's World Cup.

Ribery, 30, is a key member of the France national team. The Bayern man picked up his 80th international cap in November as Les Bleus overcame Ukraine in a qualifcation playoff to reach the 2014 Brazil finals. Speaking to Eurosport ,Wenger said he believes France must get the best out of
Ribery if they are to go far in the
competition.

He said:   “At the World Cup in 2006 Franck Ribery was fantastic in his desire to take on the opposition defence.
“But 2010 passed him by. As it did the whole France team for reasons that are well known”, he added.
“Since then he has grown in maturity and is far more consistent and effective in his performances.
“Ribery is one of very few players in the world who can carry the ball to the opposition defence and take on players.
“We must not take that away from him – he has to remain faithful to his style of play because that is where he can make the difference.”

France reached the World Cup final in Germany in 2006, only to lose out to Italy on penalties in the final. In 2010 in South Africa, Les Bleus crashed out at the group stage in the wake of a player revolt against then manager Raymond Domenech. New national team coach Didier Deschamps took over from Laurent Blanc following France's exit from the 2012
European Championships, where they were defeated by Spain at the quarter final stage.

The draw for the 2014 World Cup takes place on Friday afternoon by 4pm.
