Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre villas-boas is under increasing pressure at White Hart Lane, the report claims, as a series of disappointing results, combined with the Portuguese’s attitude to the reverses,has caused the club’s hierarchy to consider his position.
Reports claims the heavy defeat against Manchester City on Sunday brought into focus problems that had been bubbling under the surface since the start of the season. There is consternation
that an expensively assembled team has scored only nine league goals all season and frustration over Villas-Boas’ perceived
reluctance to accept his share of the blame for the poor results.
Villas-Boas is said to be too willing to blame others - the home crowd, the club’s medical staff, the players - when matters go awry, and too willing to take his share of the spotlight when the club is successful. There is also unrest in the dressing room over the arrival of seven new players this summer and the resulting impact on the players already at the club who are no longer secure in their positions.
Reports goes so far as to suggest
that a negative outcome against Tromso in the Europa League on Thursday - or against Manchester United at home in the Premier League on Sunday - could signal
the end of the former Chelsea boss’ time in north London. Villas-Boas was appointed in the summer
of 2012 after Harry Redknapp departed the Lane. He spent less than a season at Stamford Bridge, having returned in 2011? to the club he previously worked at under
Jose Mourinho. Spurs finished fifth in the table in Villas-Boas’ first season, and are currently ninth, with 20 points from 12 games .
